With hundreds of merchant ship shots taken over the years, this page shows only a small number of examples from my collection. I now intend to cover individual vessels with their own entries as photographed. Meantime, I`ll try and work back and add a few images when time permits with the most recent first. Bulk Carriers and Containerships are listed seperately.
Furenas
Picture
This is the Faroe Islands-flagged Furenas photographed early afternoon on 15 April following her overnight visit to the Rothesay Dock Oil Terminal at Clydebank. The car park at the the old Erskine Ferry Slipway was busy with people taking advantage of the summer-like conditions. Dogs were swimming and several young kids were paddling and building sand castles on the small beach!

A couple of yachts made their way downriver, passing under the bridge just a few minutes before the Oil / Chemical Tanker appeared.

Furenas was built in Romania in 1998 and is currently owned and managed by a Swedish company. Cork in the Irish Republic was her next port of call.

Hornisse
Picture
On the morning of Wednesday 27 March, soon after Bro Deliverer left Rothesay Dock and passed under the Erskine Bridge, German tanker Hornisse sailed into view, ready to take her place at the Clydebank Oil Terminal. The Bremen-based vessel was built in 1998 by the Lindenau Shipyard at Kiel and is owned and operated by Buttner Ship Management. The tanker is 146 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 8,114gt (13,050dwt).

Tugs Bruiser (above) and Svitzer Milford assisted with the tanker move. In the far distance, off Greenock, I could just make out HMS Bulwark (L15) heading for Faslane to take part in Exercise Joint Warrior. She was escorted by Duke-class (Type 23) Frigate HMS Kent (F78). Most of the participating naval vessels had yet to arrive on the Clyde for their pre-exercise briefing.
Bro Nordby
Picture
It was a fine afternoon on 3 March when I went along to Park Quay to photograph Danish-flagged Oil / Chemical Tanker Bro Nordby on her way to the Clydebank Oil Terminal. With a gross tonnage of 12,105 (16,511 dwt), the 144 metre-long vessel was built by the Qiuxin Shipyard at Shanghai, China, in 2007, originally sailing under the name Nordby Maersk. Still owned and managed by Maersk Tankers of Copenhagen, she received her name change in 2012. Tugs Bruiser and Anglegarth escorted the tanker safely into her berth at Rothesay Dock.
Pechora Star
Picture
This is the Maltese-flagged tanker Pechora Star en route to Milford Haven on a grey 31 January morning after an overnight visit to the Rothesay Dock Oil Terminal. She, and Kongo Star, which called in at Clydebank the previous day, are part of the large Furetank Chartering group, several vessels of which are regular visitors to Scottish waters.
Picture
Tugboat Svitzer Milford was on hand to escort the Pechora Star as far as the Tail of the Bank, off Greenock.
