Notable visitors during February, which I didn`t manage to capture on camera, included US Navy Fairchild Swearingen C-26D 900528, present on the 1st. Jet Airliners
Above left: Football related traffic arriving with Italian fans for the Celtic v Inter Milan game on Thursday the 19th comprised Boeing 737s EC-LAV Alba Star (pic in above gallery), OM-GTB of Go2Sky, and I-NEOU of Neos, seen here flying over the Netherlands-flagged tanker Bit Oktania which is a frequent visitor to Clydebank`s Rothesay Dock Oil Terminal. The vessel was built in 2004 by the Edward shipyard, Shanghai, China. Above right: Photographed on Friday 27 February is Canadair CRJ-900 D-ACNE of Eurowings.
Some of these views, including this one, were taken from the raised area known locally as The Mound which is adjacent to the playing fields and boundary of the Paisley Moss Nature Reserve at the southwest perimeter. It is a particularly good vantage point when Runway 05 is operational although there`s quite a bit of unavoidable foreground clutter and, if the normally quite marshy ground is saturated, the approach can feel more akin to wading through a swamp!
Prop-liners
Biz-jets & Misc
On Thursday 12 February, British Army Lynx AH-9A ZG919, destined for Area Juliet, conveniently flew low along half the length of Runway 23 before turning back for landing. No doubt the controllers in the tower got a wave from the helicopter crew on their way past.
German Air Force C-160D Transall 50+82 night-stopped on the 21st and it was joined by 51+12 (below) which arrived on the 22nd. The first Transall departed Glasgow during the afternoon of the 22nd while the second left on the 23rd. Another military visitor, namely RAF BAE 125 CC3 ZD620 also called in briefly on the 23rd, around lunchtime.
The C-160 was designed and produced as a joint venture between France and Federal Germany, Transall being an abbreviation of the specially formed consortium Transporter Allianz, comprising the companies of MBB, Aerospatiale and VFW-Fokker. In addition to serving with the French and German Air Forces, the aircraft has also been exported to South Africa and Turkey, as well as a small number to civilian operators. The C-160 has now been operating for more than 50 years but is due to be replaced in French and German service by the Airbus A400M Atlas.
