This page features aircraft photographed at Glasgow Airport in November 2014. Although the airport was much quieter compared to the peak summer months, there was still a fair bit of activity at times with the Ryanair flights helping to boost off-season airline passenger numbers.
Meanwhile work continues to replace the old perimeter security fence with an upgraded sensor-protected version and it looks as though the project is gradually nearing completion.

It was announced that more than £3m will be spent on a two-storey 1400sqm extension of the east pier which is currently used by airlines including Ryanair and EasyJet. The project, which should be completed by spring 2015, will result in the creation of five gates and a new waiting area for departing passengers. The upgrade will allow more passengers to board planes directly without the need to step onto the aprons. Although the east pier currently has stands for eight aircraft, passengers can only board planes directly from three of them. Most passengers currently have to be transferred by bus or walk out to their aircraft.
This investment is in direct response to Glasgow International`s success in securing a growing number of new routes and services. Budget operator Ryanair recently opened a base at the airport, which alone is expected to bring in more than 850,000 passengers a year with 55 weekly return flights. Also, Jet2 has announced expansion plans including five new routes and Canadian airline Westjet are due to begin daily non-stop flights to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 29 May 2015. Other destinations set to appear on departure boards next year are Bordeaux and the Cuban capital Havana.
In October, Glasgow Airport was sold by the Heathrow Airports group to a Spanish and Australian consortium comprising Ferrovial and Macquarie. The £1 billion sale which also involves Aberdeen and Southampton airports, is expected to be completed by January.
